SHIFTS: Various times. Every day in the afternoon and Saturday morning.
DURATION: 3 quarters. The course is calculated for the project to one class per week, but can concentrate on two quarters. Look.

METHOD OF PAYMENT: The month is paid in advance. The months of 5 classes (depending on the day) pay extra class with a 50% discount.

  • Theoretical and practical classes on the craft of building a Spanish guitar or acoustic.
  • The student will work primarily at home or workshop just doing some specific work in class to be supervised by the teacher.
  • The student must bring to class the developments during the week for evaluation and correction.
  • The student will purchase the materials and tools with the advice of the teacher.
  • The student will learn to design and build some specific tools of lutherie as needed.
  • No previous experience is required for this course.
  • The expenses of tools will be scattered throughout the course, so you need not buy all at once but as they are needed. As many of them are special and not sold anywhere, the teacher will suggest places where acquiring the best price.
  • There is no age limit for these courses, but will start from the age of 16.
  • Outside of class time, the shop will be open for students to work on their instruments. The price is 5 euro per hour of work.


Part 1.

Principles underlying the operation of stringed instruments. Basics about different types of woods used to build instruments. Construction of the Solera and its studs for assembling the guitar. Construction of a side bender and other necessary tools. Selecting the tools necessary to build guitars.

Partie 2.

Construction of the soundboard. Selection of the timber. Gluing of the plates.Planing and obtaining the desired thickness. Notion of "tap tuning". Cutting the soundhole. Milling of the crib for decorative rosette. Construction of the ribs for the fan bracing. Gluing thereof. Using dowel sticks gluing system.

Partie 3.

Construction of the neck. Selection of the timber. Making the head. Gluing thereof. Making the heelblock. Possibility of ribs or trussrod. Bonding the cover of the head. Cutting the shape of the headstock. Drilling the holes for the tuners. Cutting the front slots of the headstock. Joint of the neck and the top. Alignment. Construction of the block. Gluing thereof.

Partie 4.

Preparation of plates for the sides. Bending thereof.Mounting thereof. Preparation of kerflining strips Vertical reinforcement rings.

Partie 5.

Construction of the back plate. Gluing of the plates. Planing. Milling of the groove to the outer strip reinforcement. Preparation of the internal reinforcement strip. Preparation of the barrage. Gluing the barrage.

Partie 6.

Checking and preparation for gluing the back plate. Gluing thereof. Alignment. Gluing the heel cap.

Partie 7.

Purfling. Using the router, Dremel tool and accessories. Preparation of the strips for the purfling and cut thereof. Gluing profiles. Decorations and inlays. Using colored woods, mother of pearl, bone and other materials

Partie 8.

Construction of the fingerboard. Calculate frets. Cut the slots for the frets. Check the alignment. Gluing the fingerboard. Shaping the neck. Placing, leveling, beveling, and grinding the frets

Partie 9.

Construction of the bridge. Different woods used. Types of slots for the saddle. Different types of saddles.

Partie 10.

Termination. Preparing for varnish the guitar. Sanding. Filler. Aplying shellac. Using oils.

Partie 11.

Installation of the bridge. Preparing the area to bonding thereof. Alignment. Calculation of compensation.

Partie 12.

Final adjustments and stringing. How to string correctly. Different types of strings and selection thereof. Construction of the nut. Construcción of the saddle. Types of saddles. Adjusting the action and final calibration.
